Samuel Parra

Master in Autonomous Systems, Software Engineer

Master of Science in Autonomous Systems with an interest in software engineering in robotics. For the past 3 years I have been working in academia building new methods for designing, developing, and testing robot systems.

Work Experience

Reseach Associate

Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences

SESAME project

Apr 2021 -
Present

  • Designed and implemented the FloorPlan DSL, a model-driven approach to describe indoor environments in the frame of the HORIZON 2020 project SESAME.
  • Developed companion tools for extending the supported use cases of the FloorPlan DSL. Including the creation of plugins for the Gazebo simulator.
  • The open-source software is built on top of technologies such as TextX, Python, C++, Blender, RDFlib, and JSON-LD.
  • Collaborated with universities and industry partners to integrate the FloorPlan DSL to the SESAME platform.
  • Wrote detailed documentation for all software developed, as well as extensive reports on experiments performed.

Teacher Assistant (WHK)

Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences

Advanced Software Technology course

Apr 2020 -
Apr 2021

  • Performed guest lectures in model-driven engineering, the Robot Operating System (ROS), and modelling tools such as JetBrains' MPS.
  • Designed and graded assignments that motivated the students to learn and use modern technologies in robot software application development, such as ROS and model-driven approaches.

Front-End Web Developer

Blackstorm Developers

May 2017 -
Sept 2018

As a frontend developer I worked with a multidisciplinary team to create web pages with responsive design and re-utilizable components in order to meet the needs of clients who sought for a web presence.
